Mahatma Gandhi Mandir OR Mahatma mandir - Gandhinagar

As a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the golden jubilee of Gujarat on May 1, the state government has planned to construct a memorial in Gandhinagar which will be built using water and sand brought from all over the world.


Mahatma Gandhi Mandir or Mahatma Mandir - an iconic tourist destination at Gandhinagar is located 2 Km away on the opposite direction of Gujarat assembly building. Between this, there are two roads and a square shaped garden in middle.

Mahatma Mandir is a convention centre and a memorial developed by Government of Gujarat located at sector 13, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. It is inspired from life and philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi. It is one of the biggest convention centre of India spread over 34 acres. Mahatma Mandir is Gujarat's new world class facility for International Conferences and event venue located at Gandhinagar, a capital of State of Gujarat, India.

Design of the Mahatma Mandir Convention cum Exhibition Center has been inspired from and reflects the life and philosophy of the Father of the Nation- Mahatma Gandhi; reflecting the prosperity of Gujarat.

Events like VIBRANT GUJARAT is carried out at MAHATMA MANDIR.

By Road: Gujarat has one of the better developed road networks in India. Mahatma Mandir located at 30 kms from Ahmedabad. Mahatma Mandir is well connected with National Highway to Delhi, Mumbai etc.
By Rail: Located at 30 kms from Ahmedabad Railway station

By Air: Located at 20 kms. from Ahmedabad international airport


The project was developed in TWO phases.


Phase 1 will be completed by December 2010 which will host “Vibrant Gujarat 2011”. Phase one construction will house an international level convention center, three big exhibition halls, and small halls having conferencing facility to facilitate one on one buyer seller meets in phase one, the official said adding that the construction of the convention center attracts an investment of Rs 150 crore and will have a capacity of 5,000 delegates.

Phase 2 will be completed by December 2011 Phase 1 includes construction of museum, food court, convention center , exhibition center, service building, landscaping and pathway Phase 2 includes construction of suspension bridge, open air theater, parking facilities, landscaping, and salt mound.
